East End Community Village

Cattedown, Plymouth

Working within a team to build a ‘community village’ as part of a regeneration project, LHC designed three of the four key buildings: a mixed-use residential and retail scheme, Extra Care housing and a Business Centre, along with associated public realm and landscaping.

Care, Mixed Use, Residential

£14 million

All the buildings are contemporary in design, and provide a prominent and impressive vista from the surrounding roads. ‘Glued together’ through a unified public realm that links with the local green space of Astor Park, the layout helps to determine a strong sense of place and to ensure an accessible environment for all.

Designed using sustainable and environmental techniques all met BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard.

…the striking architecture of the buildings had created a village feel on once-derelict land.

Plymouth City Council

The development makes a significant step towards the long term regeneration of the East End of Plymouth and provides vital resources to support both the development of community based services and to restore local pride.
