Cann Bridge is a special school for pupils aged 3-19 who have severe learning difficulties. It is one of several schools located on the Tor Bridge School Complex in Estover, Plymouth. LHC was asked to review current learning arrangements and provide new classrooms, to allow the school to expand to meet rising demand and provide a designated learning environment for post-16 students.

Following a feasibility study and pre-application process, LHC achieved consent for the preferred design, which is now complete and occupied. The design comprises an extension providing two classrooms with associated learning spaces, informal teaching/social space and a communal dining area with kitchen and servery. All teaching spaces have direct access to outside informal play areas.
Withdrawal rooms are situated on the eastern facade away from major activity. An open storage area for wheelchairs and a pupil hygiene room/accessible WC complete the space.
