LHC Design’s urban design, landscape and architectural team working with client Taylor Wimpey and a wider team consisting of Copperfield Land & Planning, EAD Ecology, Aspect Trees Consultants and Odyssey Engineers, have helped to secure consent for a development of 110 new homes on the eastern edge of Crewkerne.
Work will begin on site soon on this long-awaited Somerset housing development after detailed plans for the first homes were approved by South Somerset District Council in March. This first phase will deliver a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bed houses and apartments (including affordable housing) providing a high quality residential development that integrates well with neighbouring areas of Crewkerne. LHC’s team is now working on the technical delivery prior to the scheme starting on site in 2021, and a subsequent phase of 525 dwellings to be submitted later this year
Taylor Wimpey Exeter intends to build a total of 635 homes over a four-year period on the Crewkerne key site, which lies between the A30 Yeovil Road and the A356 Station Road to the east of the town centre. The plans for the first phase were submitted after the revised layout for the spine road connecting the development to the two main roads was signed off in May 2020. This phase will also open up land for both employment units and a 60-bed care homes, both of which were secured within the outline planning permission.
