National Cream Tea Day at LHC

Who in their right mind would turn down an excuse to gorge on home made scones, jam and cream? Or scones, cream and jam, depending on which side of the Tamar you identify with. Not us in the LHC Exeter studio anyway!

We celebrated National Cream Tea Day (a day early) on Thursday 27 June in sweltering heat, with a range of home cooked scones; clotted cream supplied by Rodda’s (best clotted cream in the west) and jam from the lovely people at Tiptree.

Also – because we love a competition in the Exeter studio – we held a Scone Off. Four home-made varieties:  Rosemary & Cheddar; Cheddar with a Kick; Chilli & Cheese; and a Mystery Scone from the depth’s of Grant’s freezer fought for the crown. Our judging panel deliberated over look, smell, taste and texture and Kate’s Kick came out on top!

We’ve raised over £50 with more still to come in for our charity of the year, Young Devon.
