Storytelling cloaks created for ‘The Castle’

Behind-the-scenes work continues on our redevelopment of ‘The Castle’ at Devonport Park, home of local charity, Routeways – but this time it’s not a sledgehammer but a sewing machine which is being called into action.

One of LHC’s interior designers, Sian Crayford, is putting her considerable costume designing skills to great use by designing and creating two beautiful cloaks which the charity will use in the brand new storytelling area. Sian figured it would be a good way to contribute something a little different for the project.

The stunning red fabric – perfect for characters from royalty to Red Riding Hood – has been kindly donated by Camira Fabrics. Camira make fabrics for a vast array of commercial spaces and places, from offices to schools, trains to buses, and shops to hospitals. They were one of the first companies to offer to help us with the transformation and they supplied 5 metres of a fabric called Synergy Mutual.

The cloaks are now complete but we’re saving the big reveal until we cut the ribbon on The Castle. We can’t wait to see the finished thing – watch this space!

Huge thanks to Camira for their kind support. Here’s Sian creating the two cloaks…
