New learning space at Cann Bridge School completes

A spacious and welcoming new learning space at Cann Bridge School’s Tor Bridge campus in Plymouth is now complete.

Cann Bridge School is a school for pupils aged 3-19 who have severe learning difficulties. Working on behalf of the school, LHC designed a major new extension that provides two classrooms with associated learning spaces, informal teaching and social space and a communal dining area with kitchen and servery.

The new building, which benefits from open plan communal areas, with interior design guided by LHC, has been specifically designed for the school’s post-16 students.

Rooms have direct access to outside social areas, allowing students to benefit from sensory learning experiences as well as indoor withdrawal rooms away from the central social space and a storage area suitable for wheelchairs, a hygiene room and an accessible WC which completes the space.

Since moving into the extension, feedback on the specially designed areas has been extremely positive with both teachers and students benefitting from the additional space.
