Work to start on two new Devon retail parks

Two major retail projects for Devon are soon to get underway in Barnstaple and Plymouth, both designed by LHC.

Anchorwood Bank in Barnstaple is a regeneration project which includes delivery of a new retail park which is set to include four, large high quality retail units and three restaurant units with outside seating areas and ample car parking. A development of 172 new homes by North Devon Homes, not designed by LHC, is also part of the next phase of development Anchorwood.

The retail development will be fully landscaped to create a pleasant and attractive environment that takes into consideration its context and local heritage.

LHC is also in discussion regarding future uses of the Grade 2 listed Olivers Buildings on the site, which housed part of the Shapland & Petter furniture company. This area is key to the sympathetic regeneration of the Anchorwood Bank site.

The second major project for the region, at Marsh Mills in Plymouth, will see a new £14 million retail park on the site of the former Legacy International Hotel on a prominent junction off A38. The investment is set to create at least 50 full-time jobs in the city and will secure the site’s long-term future. The contemporary design of the new buildings will act as a landmark on this highly visible site, improving the appearance of the whole of the Marsh Mills area and this important gateway into Plymouth.
